The Shy 5 are a group of elusive, mostly nocturnal, and rarely spotted small mammals in  Africa, specifically: the Aardvark, Meerkat (the only one active by day), Porcupine (Cape Porcupine), Aardwolf, and Bat-eared Fox.

These animals are known for hiding in burrows and being difficult to spot compared to the famous "Big 5".

Key Details About the Shy 5:

Aardvark: Solitary, powerful digger that uses its claws to break into termite mounds.

Meerkat: Social, diurnal creatures that live in large, underground tunnel systems.

Porcupine (Cape): The largest of the group, known for its sharp, defensive quills.

Aardwolf: A specialized, solitary insectivore that feeds mainly on termites.

Bat-eared Fox: Known for its large ears used to locate insects and regulate body temperature.

They are most commonly found in the Karoo or Kalahari Desert regions of South Africa, Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater.
Sometimes, the Pangolin is included in the list of elusive, shy creatures.
